Adoption Home Studies:
The process begins with the following steps:
Family Consultation
Background screening (for all household members over 18 years old)
Training/Counseling
After these steps have been completed a home study narrative will be started. A family counselor will interview the family several times in order to gather information to include in the home study. The home study will consist of the following:
Motivation
Physical description of the home and neighborhood
Personal history (per applicant)
Medical (history per applicant)
Parenting experience
Employment
Safety
References
We will fully integrate counseling and training prior to beginning your adoption home study. Family Unity will work very close with families to obtain the necessary documentation, as well as providing support.
Pre-Adoption Supervision
Monthly visits minimum of 90 days
Monthly summary reports
Post-Adoption Supervision
Monthly visits
Summary reports of child’s progress
Recommendation about placement
